The NFAA Foundation has made the decision to change the format for the 2021 Vegas Shoot. The NFAA Foundation has been working diligently to explore alternative formats for the 2021 event. The new format will feature a virtual event for the flight and junior divisions and a smaller in-person event for the Championship divisions.
“We are working to create an event for the flight and junior divisions that will allow them to shoot anywhere in the world while still competing for cash prizes and scholarships. We want everyone to have the ability to participate, but safely,” explained Bruce Cull, President, NFAA Foundation. “Our goal is to hold an in-person event for the Championship divisions later in the year. We hope to have an announcement shortly regarding the details for both events.”
The world-famous archery event and trade show was originally scheduled for February 10-14 at the South Point Hotel & Casino. The in-person event was estimated to host over 4,000 archers. Due to the continued rise of COVID-19 cases, the State of Nevada has decreased capacity limits and tightened COVID-19 restrictions. The current restrictions make an event of The Vegas Shoot’s size impossible.
“We have held off as long as we can on making a decision for our February event,” commented Cull. “We had hoped that by December, COVID numbers would begin to decrease and regulations would begin to lift. That is the opposite of what is happening.”
The NFAA Foundation will be working with the South Point Hotel & Casino and the Grandview Las Vegas to issue room refunds for reservations under the 2021 hotel blocks. Cancelations will be automatically processed starting Monday, December 14, 2020.
“We would like to thank all of our participants, sponsors, and vendors for their continued support. We are disappointed we can’t host our event as scheduled but are excited to get even more archers involved around the world,” exclaimed Cull.
